about

“To explore strange new worlds; seek new life and new civilizations; to go boldly where no man has gone before!”

In my youth I heard those words a hundred times. This quote is from the opening of the Starship Enterprise TV show. Now, many decades later, I am witnessing major advances in space exploration, fascinating new technologies, and detailed images from the universe and animations about exoplanets.

I'm sure I won't be around anymore, when mankind travels through space, because building a warp drive takes a lot of time and money. If we have one or something like that, we will be able to visit and explore strange new worlds in search of new life and new civilizations.

Humanity is currently using telescopes to search for planets outside our solar system, characterizing them and looking for signs and signals of life between the stars. So far we haven't found anything. Mankind's special interest lies in the search for planets orbiting a star other than our sun; also called "extrasolar planet". Some will have a habitable zone. Earth is in the Sun's habitable zone, one of the reasons our planet has liquid water like oceans and lakes.

I can't wait for the next new insights and research results. Until then, I'll do what I can. I make music and create sounds, tones, melodies and soundscapes for imaginary journeys through space. All you need is a pair of good headphones and imagination. This album contains 11 songs that describe parts of the journey through space and found exoplanets. Some pieces are their own little soundtracks.

The songs were created between November 2022 and May 2023. A time that was very moving for me. With many profound changes and upheavals. The album "Short ones", which was released at short notice in the meantime, also contains one or the other shorter piece from this period. The album "Short ones" was not announced and marketed in a big way, but it still found its listeners.

"Strange new worlds" is atmospheric, with lots of soundscapes and sound effects, sometimes dark and then melodic again. I didn't break many new paths, but stayed true to myself and my preferences. The tones and sounds are all invented and recorded by me. Presets are sometimes a starting point for me, but they're always being modified.

My instruments and my collection of effects have grown over the last few months. I would like to explicitly mention the synths from Cherry Audio, which I enjoy very much. The abundance of sound material from self-recorded sounds and noises has also increased. Not everything has been used so far, but is waiting for the next album.

As always, I designed the cover myself.

All songs and pieces are composed, played, recorded with Cubase Artist 12, mixed and mastered by me.

I dedicate this album to all scientists, visionaries and dreamers, who want to understand, see and experience what the universe has to offer mankind. May we learn and finally understand that we need to be humble and grateful for what constitutes our existence and our lives. Our planet. The earth.
